Samir Mallal

Samir Mallal is an award-winning narrative and commercial film director and Sundance Grand Jury Prize nominee, who is a pioneer of VR filmmaking techniques. Mallal is the co-creator of the CBC/Hulu series Black Taj and directed Vest, a short film acquired by the BFI.
He has created documentaries in places such as Nigeria and Bombay, and he’s excited about the potential for new AI tools to enable him to create films in record time about the most important issues facing the world.
His work has also been recognised with Cannes Gold Lion, Clio and Webby awards, and a Canadian Screen Award nomination. He was also named Best Young Director at Cannes Lions and selected for Saatchi & Saatchi’s New Directors’ Showcase.
